Review of IBPS CWE Exam for Bank PO
Here is a review of the IBPS CWE Bank PO Exam conducted on 18th Sept 2011. Thanks to Ms. Swapna for sending us the review of the paper. The review provide insights on how to prepare for CWE Exam. Applicants preparing for CWE for bank clerks can also use the guidelines as the paper structure and pattern would be very similar. If you wish to send us some article, you can send it on banksindiasite@gmail.com, we will try to publish it as well.
All hyped CWE Exam for Bank PO is over now!!!! As said by many people who took the exam, the paper was an average paper, neither too easy nor tough though some people could not find enough time to complete the whole paper. The reason why I am writing this, probably it may help people for next CWE PO exam or to crack the forthcoming CWE clerk exam which is kind of similar to the probationary exam (though not tough like PO!!!!).
- Confidence – Nothing much will help an arithmetic paper. Trust me panicking will fetch you only negative results. Start doing the numerical and you will definitely arrive at the answer, provided you know the concepts well (Logic does help you but not for all numerical).
- Know the concepts well. This will possibly help you for the Reasoning part and Numerical part which will definitely reduce the time spent in these parts. What I mean here is PRACTICE maximum number of sums. It’s all simple middle school level sums (not even higher secondary level).
- Many people face difficulty in English part. And yes it is common to make mistakes in adverbs, adjectives tense and other such things After all, it is not our native language!!! There is a topic covered in R.S Agarwal’s English book called as “commonly made errors” (ample sources available in net as well…). Try to read all those points. Memorize it and start using it while speaking with your friends. Try to practice comprehensions in CAT question paper and solve it. That will help you in doing easy comprehension questions asked in bank exam papers.
- Computer – Just have knowledge of computer basics. Don’t go deep into it. Just an hour or two of preparation will definitely help in answering all the questions in this part. And definitely you don’t have to be a computer engineer to answer those!!!
- Keep track of the day to day happenings in the finance world and general happenings in the country. That will apparently help in General awareness part.
- Cracking CWE PO Exam is all about Time Management. Decide about the section you are going to attempt first. Plan over the time allocation and the time you are going to spend on each section. Attempt the section which you are strong in first followed by the difficult sections.
- Descriptive paper was not very tough in yesterday’s CWE paper. There were 3 questions totally viz., Letter writing, article writing and precise writing. You will have 3 choices for the first two questions. Out of the three choices, believe me at least one will be easy!!!
- Descriptive Questions asked in yesterday’s paper: i) write a letter to the appropriate person describing about the frequent power cuts in your area. ii) Write a letter to your friend about the women reservation bill. iii) e-commerce iv) changes in the telecommunication industry happened in the last decade.
- Finally, PRACTICE!!! It really works out. Practice really makes a man (or woman) perfect. :)
Hope this post is informative. Good luck for all your forthcoming exams. Drop in your comments about your experience of the exam as well below.
Its really informative … too good article .. :)
really nice. will b helpful for d people who r preparing. “u dont hav to b a computer engineer” is so funny but true.
maam what would be the expected cut off for each section
It’s difficult to say the sectional cut-off…But it was mentioned somewhere that
“Each candidate will have to secure a minimum standardized score in each of the tests to qualify in the written examination and to be considered for vacancies in the participating banks. The cut-off points will be decided based on the average (Average – ¼ Standard Deviation for General category candidates and Average – ¾ Standard Deviation for Reserved Category candidates).”
Thanks to Swapna for spending her time to prepare this article. Really informative and also encouraging for those who prepares for bank related exams.
I am an Electronic engineer by Profession and this was my 2nd PO exam,as i want to be a part of banking industry(although right now working with a MNC),but my interests belong to banks n all.My last PO(Indian Bank PO2010)was less time consuming as compared to this.I cleared Indian bank written exam but did not able to attend GD-PI part due to personal reason,so gave this exam. And This time i think GK and comp. would go on higher cut-off(i.e.17-20 & 27-30 respectively),Quant and English would have a medium range cut-off(i.e.18-21 and 9-10 respectively),while for the 1st time i think Reasoning Cut-off would drop very low(i.e. 10-14) and overall cut-off would go beyond 100…

Can I have idea about the number of vacancy…?
I have attended only 10-15 questns in quant bt rest i have done well…so should i give up my hopes on passing the exam or can i still expect something gud…(passing the exam)
yes sheeba u have to…………no body knows what would b the expcted cutoff……..i also attempted the same no of ques in Quant. i am also expecting smthing gud……….:)
can anybody upload the ibps paper that was conducted on 18 sept 2011…….i want 2 solve the paper again for my own satisfaction..bcoz i couldn’t did well in that paper…
when will the next po ibps will be held
Next IBPS CWE Bank PO will mostly be held in march 2012.
I fully agree with aashish. as i have myself cleared two po written exams. i fully agree that gk,computer were the easiest section and highly scorable..the cut off will be high in these section..
english and math was of medium level but time consuming….but the real suprise was reasoning…i must acknolwege reasoning was the toughest part and it will hav lowest cutoff….i think those who have attempted reasoning and math section first will be disavantages as must not got enough time to complete the paper…bcos the section you attempt first u generally try to do it well…and in that case u attempting reasopning will leave u to rush through other sections…also remeber negative marking will defenatiley play a big role…so me guess for cut off.
reasonign 10-15
Quant -10-20
engish 15-20
gk 20-25
computer 20-30
overall cutoff should be 90+
hi jai…. IBPS question papers are not given to the candidates to take it out of the exam hall….
plz tell me cutoff of cwe po exam…..
and about preparation of english exam……….
Well, Not a great review i must say..i was expecting more elaborate review by some expert..
English was tough coz of the number of comprehensions..
Reasoning was real tough..Maths had calculations..loads of them..
Gk was easy..but wid a little banking knowledge abt current and saving a/c would score well..
Computers was easy and nonsense..The ans had similar option to confuse..Did not actually check our knowledge like tab row and tab box…We know tab function but its row or box usually not read..
Yes..Its all abt TIME MANAGEMENT …RIGHTLY SAID
It’s not a review from some expert but one of the applicants just like you. Thanks for your feedback.
since its a first common po it was not organized well.. they were giving instructions to the students and invigilators during exams and they were much disturbing.. and this review is gud and will surely help to perform better in clerical exam
Hi! every one! I’m an engineering student, persuing my final year hv some question regarding bank po exam —
# I am eligiable fr CWE po, i would get my degree in 2012 june?
# how many vacancies r in public bank this year?
# what is salary of a probationary officer on hand?
I appriciate ur valuable comment!!!!!!
thank…. this is really helpfull . can u suggest me any good book for descriptive paper .
hi to every body i want to know the maximum cut off marks for ibps po exam held on sep 18th,i want to know the exact marks cut off and the safe zone regarding of getting the job as po n banks
heyllo friends,Its Aashish again,i was going through all comments and realized that maximum of us could’t able to distribute time during 18th sept. PO exam. So we should prepare for the time enhancement tests specially for the sections like Reasoning and Quant.
Regular practice should include RCs,Different types of Reasoning ques. and Practice of Quant. section. Bcoz these topics actually decide the selection of an student. As GK Comp n Eng consume less time and no solving at the time of paper, they require knowledge….so prepare well and ALL THE BEST to all of u..tc
