hello dost kya hall h..
Hi Rahul!!!!
How u analyse ur repetitive failure at intrvws??? What kn b d reasons 4 denial from banks??? I m facing same problem. Corporation, SBI, SBI Associate, Rajasthan Gramin Bank (PNB Sponsered RRB) are the banks which were not interested in me and rejected outrightly. bt i dont k9 y?? I have experience of 3 years in banking only(Royal Bank of Scotland as Collection Co-ordinator) and right now njoying (Not really)Post of Inspector in Postal Department. I answr almost evry question thrown at me bt smhw not able to crack intrvw :-(. I hv appeared in BOB, BOI n Canara Bank’s Intrvw only as i want to be associated with good brand only( So didnt apply for other banks) n now waiting for OBC. I feel that both u n me are bit verbose n try to act smart at intrvw :-D
Plz suggest according to you wat kn be the reasons for frequent rejections! U n me both hv good score (Mine 171), I feel that i look quite good, descent n straight forward, co-operative. Altruist kn be the word which defines me. ( N i hv imagined u in same way). Desperately want to be the part of banking industry bt not able to break the barrier of intrvws. Plz share ur analysis as it may help me to ovrcome the problem. Thinking of applying to Punjab n Sind bt really don’t want to associated with it so in dilemma wat to do.
Im also facing the same problem.rejected in UBI, Corporation bank & SBI Associates.i also hav gud score (176 SC). Cleared IBPS CWE Specialist officer exam…
i don’t have such good marks in IBPS PO CWE as you all guys have, but though I got 179 marks in UBI, 156 in written test and 23 in interview. And as I belong to SC category, I should have got selected, but I wasn’t. May be because many candidates got 179 and then they decided final list for ppl with 179 marks with some other criterias. Moreover, I had very good interviews with BOI, Canara, Allahabad Bank and UCO bank. So, I hope to get selected in atleast 2 out of these four. My Syndicate and UBI interviews were not so good but neither so bad. But my SBI Asso written was excellent and so were my gd n pi with SBI Asso. I was interviewed appx 40-45 minutes. And I was quite sure of getting selected. And finally I’m selected for SBM. I’m from Maharashtra. So, my interviews were mostly in Mumbai.I have cleared IBPS Spe Officer CWE. I think I have enough experience to share some piece of ‘advise’ that you all guys are looking for. Well, the first most important thing is to be humble. And with that comes being truthful in any interview or GD. Having right attitude is the key, knowledge is secondary part. It’s quite okay to be not able to answer all questions, but you’ll have to accept the fact straight away, never make mistake of getting in to argument. Another important thing is that you need to be very good listener. Once they ask question, pause for a moment, think on it for 3-5 seconds and then give answer with confidence. After few minutes, you’ll get hold of psychology of people interviewing you. If they are quite professional and don’t want to listen anything else, then it’s better to keep mouth shut; and if they want to listen to you and waiting for you to speak more, don’t miss the chance
But don’t bluff anything. Keep some answers ready in your mind like Why banking after engg? why this bank? etc… Just don’t try to be over-smart. Be simple and brief. Think before you speak. And don’t waste your time in analyzing the IBPS scores, ranks, vacancies and your chance formula. Instead, brush up your GK by reading news papers. BOI guys were really impressed when they asked me Bank’s profile and I answered saying BOI’s leading role in setting up SWIFT codes and recently, introducing RuPay card, which will break duopoly of American giants Visa and Master card and would allow small banks to issue debit/credit cards. They were not much interested in history, business line and financials. So, go prepared with everything you can. That’s it from my side. But let me repeat, be humble in interview and just accept if you don’t know some answer or made some mistake. They are looking for attitude first, not knowledge/smartness; coz they already have got smartest people in middle and top management. I wish you all very good luck and appeal to be patient. If u want to know more abt my experiencesm you can talk here on this forum.
@ Rahul: Thanks buddy. My best wishes for upcoming results and interviews. Don’t loose hope man, you’ll get through.
@ Shashank: You have very good chances, so just hold on and keep trying. Good luck.
@ Ketu. Thanks 4 ur serious suggestions. Ur idea of pause 4 a while is quite brilliant but my perception is different. They chk ur knowledge, willingness & honesty first then come all other things. U do not know me else u shld hv known how humble n straight i m. My intrvw of BOI was my best shot so i m also hoping +ve from it. I tell u sm instances of my intrvw plz tell wat better i could do
1. What you did after 12th for 5 years??? (BOB) i hv gap of 5 years between 12th & Grad
—-> Sir, after 12th in science i prepared for Pre Medical Entrance exams for 2 years and on both instances i cracked the exam but was good only to get private medical college n our financial condition didn’t allow me to join them because fees & othr expenses were accounting around 3 lacs per annum. Then i was on crossroad of my lyf n i was down & confused. After analyzing some future options i decided to go for a job n i carried out a small survey. After that i hv 3 option Banking, BPO or insurance sectors where i kn fit in esp. with such qualification. I studied more abt these sectors n decided to go for banking because of its dynamism & fairness. N as soon as i started earning i was intoxicated by the power of money and i thought when i kn earn big bucks without studying then y to study???? Bt as i got more matured my priorities changed drastically. Money took back seat and reputation acquired driving, and i realized without my graduation i couldn’t reach at top management so i started studying again but in all that 5 year was passed.
2. You were associated with International Bank Royal Bank Of Scotland, what propelled u to get into the PSB’s?? ( BOI)
—–> I was part of co-ordinating staff there with no role in management decisions and my aspiration of getting into the higher management and playing key role in strategy making n business planning was prodding me every now n then. I was talking to a senior BOB official regarding same, when i heard abt opportunities available n scope for growth in banking sector,i was moved deeply n decided to give my 100% to be the part of PSB’s. Starting from lower management to somwhere in top management
3. What difference you feel in a Multinational foreign bank and Indian PSB?? (BOI)
——> Moreover both are same with their objectives to serve financial need of the nation but PSB are focusing more n more on financial inclusion n integrated social growth. N one more difference i feel is decentralization of power in PSB. In PSB’s middle management also hv powers of making some key decision bt in MNFB power lies with top person in management hierarchy.
these were my key answers but one question that knocked me down again n again is how u’ll cope up with ur job in remote n village areas.I hv one simple answer for that Sir nobody is going to offer me a job at my home. If i want to work for this industry then i hv to work according to organisation/employer norms. But everybody on interview panel tend to give inimical look after hearing this. Pls suggest wat kn be the approch??
Hi Khushal Singh, how are you? It’s good that you are open to analyze yourself and trying to improve. I have read your response and have thought on it. Well, to be frank, your answers seem like you are trying to get your self-esteem back somehow which you had lost during those precious 5 years. But your answer only proves that your mind is not stable (focused), you don’t think of long-term, you are not serious about time and your decision making power is poor. I’m telling you this because:
1. Very few students leave study for preparing PMTs. And even you prepared for two years, you couldn’t get admission in govt medical college.
2. You didn’t think about having alternate. You cannot keep on wasting time if u r not selected. You must have other things ready in case Entrancea don’t work out. But you missed it.
3. The reason you’re giving for joining banking is not satisfactory. After 2 years’ gap, you should have started bachelors’ degree, but you did something else.
4. Then you talked about money, which ‘intoxicated’ you! Dude, showing such attitude toward money will make interviewers go mad at you.
5. Then you said, ‘as i got more matured, my priorities changed drastically’. Well, banks don’t like immature people and also the ones whose priorities keep on changing drastically.
6. And it took 3 years for you to realize that to be in top-mgmt, you need 2 have some degree!!! Who would accept such an answer?
The whole answer indicates that you’re not fit for job, leave apart top-management. Forgive me for using such harsh words, but i’m just being true. Well, it’s big mistake you’ve done of having 5 years’ gape. And you’ll have to pay price, but atleast don’t make it worse by answering in such a way. You don’t need to elaborate this answer. Just tell them you made such and such mistakes in taking such and such decisions, but I’ve suffered enough and I’ve got my lesson and I’m now ready with new challenge. Your answer should reflect your positive attitude even to your bitter past, and of course, the unknown future. Your answer is full of negativity and with no sign of optimism. You need to tell them how you realised your mistakes and how you corrected them.
About second question: you are actually not answering the question which is asked. The que is, why are you willing to quit foreign bank and want to join PSB. You talked about scope and top management…but how can you say that Royal bank is not having or giving such scope? If you want to be key person (starategy making, business planning, … as you said), you don’t need to change bank. So, your answer is irrelevant. Tell them exactly what you have seen good in PSBs which foreign banks can’t provide you in terms of learning, experience, knowledge, industry exposure etc. And my personal advise is, don’t talk about going directly in to Top management. Just talk about PO. You talk abt higher mgmt only when thay ask you que like where do u see yourself after 5-10 years.
For third question, you need to talk more about differences in the processes that the both type of following, in their services and in their goals.
And about doing job in villages, don’t answer with I ‘have to’ do that…because thay are not forcing you to do job. So use words properly. You simply say I’m open to work anywhere. Work is imporatant, not location.
I hope, this will clear the air. And let me tell you again, knowledge is their second preference. They are looking for right attitude. This is not my, but their perception. I’ve just observed it. So be truthful, confident, positive and humble. This is all I can say. And as you have banking experience, they would want you to speak in those terms. So answer accordingly. Ok? Good luck.
HI KETU ,PLEASE GUIDE ME THIS IS GOING TO BE MY FIRST INTERVIEW IN DENA BANK AND TELL ME ABOUT YOUR INTERVIEW EXPERIANCE.
@ arun: my experience is very wide. Tell me about your background, then only I would be able to help you properly. because questions are generally based on your educational background, work experience, general awareness and hr related. You can refer to my response to Khushal Singh’s questions on this portal at the end of this page (pg 102). Thanks.

Hi!!
@ ketu, u r problem was u r over confidence.
Nevr tell anything like this answers… from u r Pvt. sector work/Interview experience u replied like that. In pvt sector most compan. is needed average education But a hrd working person. So u above answers will only favourble in a PVT firm interview.
But in PSu they needed well educated people. Most of the candidates hving Degree/ PG. By u r reply th interviewrs feel tht all educated people r idiot.
So u can undestnd wht I meant… for tht 5 yrs gap just tell tht u r financialy helping u r family, or family issues etc;. so don’t think about higher studies etc; so u ‘ll get a sympathy from interviewrs.
Nvr tell them tht u r attrcted to PSU bks of money. Bks they think tht u’ll do anything for money.
& bks of managerial decision making etc;.
Because evn 4 those interviewrs hve not getting any chance to interfere in managerial activity, then how a P.O can??
& in my knowledge th PSU banks (majority) won’t select those candidates, who hve already in PSU/ Govt. Bks, unlike in PVt sector those only highering experienced & already working. the PSU’s r trying to select the unemployed & under employed. Suppose one candidate joined as P.O in UBI & aftr tht he is attending 4 P.O in SBI. It is 95% sure tht SBI’ll reject him. & is same in if he is working in GOI/ State govt/ any othr PSU. But suppose one is working as clerk in UBI & he is attending 4 a P.O level in SBI thr is 98% chnce tht SBI will select him….
4 this they r asking NOC from present employer. So to avoid majority of working candidates.

Hi all…
Is thr anybdy who is givin “United India Insurnce” Exam.. which is goin to be held on 3rd June??
Pls share its previous papers if anyone hs it asap..
Hi friends this is very important massage for those who have applied for clerical post in Bank of Baroda
and eagerly waiting for the final cutoff list for interview.
On the basis of merit list issued by IBPS I have done some calculation, and in my opinion what would be the cutoff MARKS. Let’s see :-
DELHI – (SC-172), (ST-164), (OBC-178), (GEN-187)
UTTARPRADEHS – (SC-167), (ST-162), (OBC-175), (GEN-183)
I m sure that these people under this rank have 100% chance for interview call.
Thanks
Regards
UMESH KUMAR PUNDEER
@Anoop: I don’t have any problem in interviews. I’ve got selected. And my experience was of banking interviews only. And i can’t understand why u r making point of Private n Public sectors here when I was talking abt banking only? And who the hell are you te tell me about my confidence level? I simply tell others what I have experienced and observed from the interviews I have given. If you’ve problem with that, then I can’t do anything. But you can’t stop helping me other guys who really want to improve themselves and who are disappointed and who are now impatient. I hope I’ve made my point and you’ve got it very well. So, behave now.
@ketu, sorry yar a small mistake. actually I answrd to Kushal singh.
anyway congrats!!
@ Kushal singh,
Yar don’wast u r time by digging wy u r not selected by th bank??? th answer is simple. It is not bks of u way of answering or u r mistake, etc;
U already hve a job in PSU (Postal Inspectr) & hving a salary near/ more thn 25000/-month & also hve job security.. Then the Banks will think wy they r hiring u. when lot of candidates are un employed? If u r working as postal assistant/ clerk the PSU bnk will surely consider u 4 P.O level. So try this trick, in ur next interview tell tht u r cocentrating in PSU banks bks, of job security. ie; the GOI is planning to Privatise the Post office in near future. So u worrying about u r job security. So u r turn to PSU banks….. (Try to understnd more about th Privatisation of Postal dep. in india on internet & present it before them)
or don’t waste u r money and time 4 banking interviews. If u so much inbterested in P.O job resign th current job & attend th interview.
