@nick: my argument is not baseless. reservation in India was started to bring ppl from different castes to an equal level. this is the definition of reservation in our country. most of the ppl confuse it with the wealth & financial status.
where were these thoughts when the so called ‘high society’ ppl ensured that ‘low class’ ppl stays out of their villages, no scope was left for their prosperity then. i perfectly understand what r u feeling abt gen category ppl frm not so well to do families, but its not the case.
@nick: and believe me, i’ve met ppl from very poor families, who always lived in small village for their entire life, studied in a hindi medium state board school till 12th class. And having mentioned that they lived in village, they had no access to star IIT JEE coachings, special notes, but still managed to crack IIT JEE, & moreover BITSAT, in which the entire question paper is only in english, accompanied by a compulsory section of questions in English language.
& i also know ppl who even after attending iit jee coaching for 3 consecutive years, amounting to arnd 1.5lacs, still scored a lot lower than the ppl above.
Now still u want a reservation on monetary basis?
I mean to say that if a person has really got the brains, he would need no reservation, even on financial basis.
@nick: And as far as i think, iit’s or Nit’s or other govt colleges are not charging too much for education, at least as compared to the private colleges. I dont kno if still i would be able to convince u or not, but this is was ive seen till now, & i believe is correct.
Even I lost my seat in IIT 5 yrs ago, despite of my hard work & good score in JEE. Yes unequality in financial status is also a grave problem in our country, but it need not to be confused with the the caste based reservation.

Hi, This is PRAKASH. I am also qualified in IT Officer Scale 1. Please share ur Email id. So that i can get in touch with u guys. best of luck
@ vaibhav- i hv gone through al ur arguments in support of reservation system and on the basis of ur comments i would like to ask R U REALLY A BRAMHIN nd what kind of source of information do u hv where u didn’t aware of the fact that Art 16 of the constitution of India provides for the Equality of opportunity bt the parliament and the state govt. is empowered to make provisions relating to reservation in favor of any backward class of citizens which, in the opinion of the State, is not adequately represented in the services under the State. Earlier this scheme was implemented for the period of 10 years. But this system of caste wise reservation was of use in the year 1950 and not in year 2012. i m not against the policy of reservation bt caste wise resevation should be strict no no… as u hv talked abt the backward category peoples residing in villages who r not getting the proper assistance in studies and abt hindi as a mode of instruction in government schools but at the same time u forgot that villages are not full of backward class peoples, their are peoples who are not backward living under the same condition then why the should b neglected they should also get the equal opportunity and get privileged by the scheme of reservation.
sc/st ko reservation isiliye diya gaya taki woh (15+7.5) yani ki 22.5% seat me hi limit ho jaye, kuh karna hi tha to inka base mazboot karte.economically backward class ko kabhi fayada nahi mil payega.(yeh to wahi hua jaise ki aapko free mein khana de diya gaya ho aur aapki aankhe me patti bandh di gayi ho aur aapke dono haanth pair bandh diye gaye ho).Reservation se reserved category ka bhi bhala nahin hai, desh ka bhi nahi, reserved aur UR ke bich faltoo ka tension aur fayada desh ke chor netao ko mil raha hai…….
can anyone tell me the cutoff

Totally agree with Prashant. The point that I was trying to make is that today even sc/st/obc people have a stable financial background. I know a lot of people from these castes who belong to effluent families. Now, they have an upper hand. They enjoy reservation, why are they given the advantage. I know a lot of people from general category, who are struggling hard but have to take a back seat because they belong to, as they say, “upper caste”. Now, that’s bullshit. ‘Equal opportunity’ is just a phrase now days. People from general category are the ones who are mostly disappointed even after working hard and waiting. their cutoffs are high as compared to the other castes. The main argument is that the cutoffs should be the same no matter what caste you belong to.
You bastard…
