IBPS PO-II Preferences Registration Open – Make Your Choice
Common Interviews for IBPS PO-II results has already been declared by IBPS. Now as decided IBPS will obtain order of preference of banks from the successful candidates through a registration process which will be starting from 20th February 2013. The registration process will go on till 28th February 2013.
Click here to REGISTER YOUR PREFERENCES.
Before registering preferences go through the following points which will help you to make a better choice.
1. How many Banks can one prefer in the Order of Preference ?
One can register order of your preference for all the 20 Participating Banks & ECGC.
2. Can I give posting location preference?
There is no such thing in this selection process. Some websites misguiding the candidates by saying that you will have to give posting location preference also. This is absolutely wrong.
3. Which banks to choose among the participating Banks in IBPS PO 2012?
This is very common question among the IBPS PO 2012 passed candidates. While giving preferences, one has to think about salary & allowances and also about posting location.
- Salary: Salary and allowances are more or less same for all participating banks. So, no need to worry about that.
- Posting Location: It is best to choose banks which have more number of branches in your state. For example, In Andhra Pradesh, Andhra Bank have more number branches compare to others. It is the lead bank in many areas. So that your chances of posting in your state will be high. Similarly, State Bank of Travancore has more branches in Kerala than any other state. Keep this in mind so that you will be allotted the Bank of your region.
- PO has to work anywhere in country. There is policy that one has to work out of state for 3 years. It is better to go out of state in the early stage because it will be better for learning and thus for your career.
4. What is the allotment procedure for IBPS Bank PO 2012 with respect to preferences?
Allotment is based on three things- a) Vacancies, b) One’s preferences, & c) eligibility criteria set by the specific bank. Also, keep one thing in mind that in this process the seat allotment is completely based on the Merit Basis.
For Example:
- If 1st ranker opted for PNB and he has all the eligibility norms stipulated by PNB, then he will get PNB. If there are no vacancies in PNB or if he is not fit for eligibility criteria of PNB (Like age and Graduation %), his next preference will be considered for selection.
- In case of reserved candidates: If OBC candidate got marks above the General cutoff marks and his 1st preference is also satisfied in general vacancies, he will get allotment from General vacancy. If in his preferred bank, general vacancies are finished, he will be selected from OBC vacancies of respective bank (if there are any). If the OBC vacancies are also finished, then his next preference will be considered.
If you are still confused about the allotment process then leave all on IBPS. No need to worry more about the bank allotment process, the candidates will be made aware the allotment order list and procedure in detail after the final allotment list of banks have been published. There has been more transparency and the IBPS is striving hard continuously to implement a better recruiting system and let’s leave the rest to them.
5. What is the next step after allotment?
After allotment is done, final joining will be decided by the banks individually. They will call candidates to join bank whenever they want to absorb the candidates. It may take 2 to 6 months & will vary from bank to bank.
Please Note:
- Depending on the vacancies in each bank of one’s preference, a successful candidate will receive through a computerized system an offer from ONE of the participating PSB.
- Vacancies remaining unfilled on account of candidates declining offer, will be filled from among the remaining candidates through the same procedure as mentioned above. A waitlist will be prepared from among the remaining successful candidates which will be valid upto 31.03.2014 or allotment of the next round whichever is earlier.
- Candidates must produce the necessary documents in support of their identity and eligibility pertaining to nationality, age, educational qualification, qualifying marks, category etc.

For UR vacancies, there is separate eligibility criteria., i.e., Age & Written Exam Cutoff marks (Sectional & Total).
Age: Age should not be more than 30 years for UR candidates, but for reserved candidates, they give relaxation. Those who are having age above 30 years are allowed to write the exam under the relaxed norms. So, they are not eligible for UR vacancies.
Written Exam Cutoff Marks: Written cutoff marks are not equal for all. For General, sectional cutoff is 24 marks but for reserved candidates, it is 21 only. A candidate who secured 21 to 23 marks in one or more sections are allowed to attend interviews under relaxed norms. So, these candidates are eligible only for their respective category vacancies but not UR vacancies because they failed to get 24 marks.
so even if the reserved ones are in high ranking they will not be entertained if these points are not fulfilled. am i rite guys ??

Hi all;
i hav been following ur comments on unreserved category!!
ijust have a question, wen we say tht reserved ones can get UR seats if they score in each section above 24 & age below 30;the reserved category guys have taken relaxation by paying less fees than general guys;so they have taken advantage of reservation?can they fill UR seats by paying 1/10th of fees of general category candidates?
@ uttam : chill bro…firstly i never said that this is wat i m saying, just wanted a public view on this.
Secondly, i agree wat i said, i said bout merit candidates falling under UR category only if they fulfill the criteria of being unreserved i.e without any relaxation, and this is what makes them unreserved. if someone in this category scored 70+ but he/she failed to score 24 in any of the section in cwe, they cannot and should not come under UR…and likewise the age factor. So, only a gud combined score doesnt mean that they will occupy gen seats.
Reservation system implements as….
If a candidate(who has reservation) with 70% score (let’s say) as given his 1st choice as PNB, den depending on his score, the system checks whether there’s vacancy in PNB in general category or not. If yes, den he Will be recruited as a general candidate in PNB. If there doesn’t exist any general seats, den system checks in reserved vacancies in his category. If yes, den he will be recruited as reserved candidate. If there doesn’t exist any vacancies (PNB reserved), den d system moves to his 2nd preference. Like wise the procedure continues to a reserved candidate.
@Vertigo8…..ya man…. u r right…..but its Govt policy……
@uttam24april…..Bro….its not about whether bankclerkpo is right or not……Its a Govt policy followed in every Govt. exams….whether SSC/UPSC etc….

Guys ye general candidates ko darao mat yar bar bar bol ke…reserved candidates ko general ki seat dena is full crap bt wat v can do nw..par pls yar dnt coment it again n again..tesn badh jati h..
@ ankitaa : sorry ankitaa…sahi kaha aapne. lets not stress it any more. just wait for the final allotment. gud luck !!
@vipul
have u mistakenly preferred Punjab National Bank as your 20 th preference or u wished it the same way?
@justhuman han yar hope fr d best….bus sabko bank allot ho jaye atleast deserving candidates ko to paka hi mil jaye…
Jo interview m pass huye h ,sabhi deserve krte h,,,,aur I assure U ,sbhi ko last tak bank allot ho jayega ,,,
I deliberately ranked Pnb 20th..since i’ve only 61.36 score in Gen category,so ho sakta h koi ghatiya bank shayad mil jaye..big and famous banks will be certainly grabbed by high scorers…that is why i ranked bank in small 2 big order…wat do u guys say,hv i done right or wrong?
@vipul r u from darbhanga?
@vipul koi b bank ghatiya nahi hota yar bank sab ache hote h…pnb ke lea log bht jyda serious h bt not a big deal koi b bank mile bus mil jaye..
@mamraj deserving candidate se mera matlab tha ki genral ki seats reserved ko de ke genral ke sath unfair hoga bt fr b unhe seat mil jaye…bcs jo genral 11k rank se niche ni aa rahe unhone b mehnat ki thi bt general me hone ki vajah se unhe seat na mile to ye bht galat hoga..

I’m not discouraging u. But think if this is d case.
Suppose if 61.4% scr was decided as d cutoff, den u won’t be IN in 1st list. Obviously, a waiting list will be prepared. Here comes d logic.
In d waiting list (also in 2nd list) u will be given top priority. Here ur top 3 (may be even d 1st) preferences play vital role. Definitely u Will get the One u choose in 1st or 2nd. Hope u understood.
I wish u should be IN in 1st list.
hii..can ny1 tell me ki kitna probable cut off hoga..n hw many qualified the interview
@gopi the same i m thinking from very early, almost every blogs’ members are giving importance either to pref or score, but real thing is that SCORE IS ALL TO PREPARE MERIT & PREFERENCE IS ALL TO BE ALLOTED. Why some people r nt ready to understand that if he gives dena bank as his first choic & pnb as last then even if he deserve pnb, ibps as wel as banks both wil do their best to provide him only dena bank and not pnb.
@ASHISH5…..I think u r mistaken Bro…..Its always merit-cum preference…..Merit first n then preference….
Hi Frds,
Done with filling preference.
61.52% score, OBC from karnataka. Priority given to Canara, syndicate, Corp and vijaya Banks.
What u think about my chances in first list?
@peter u r right bro, i said same but if topper himself gives his first choice as dena and pnb at last then he wil hv to accept dena even if he is fit & ask later for pnb bcoz dena was his first choice while giving pref.
